Yet again I woke before the other 2, I had packed, checked out and gone to breakfast before they were even up. Today I booked my ticket to Ho Chi Minh city, locally and better known as Saigon (it's a silly name, the equivalent would be calling London, Winston Churchill or even worse, David Cameron). George and Rob were catching a bus to Vientiane (capital of Laos, 50 hours away), they planned to meet up with some other guys from our school who are also travelling in SE Asia at the moment. So this was the parting of our ways, there were no hard feelings either way and we plan to meet up for a couple of weeks in Thailand. My journey was uneventful, for nearly 4 hours I let Stephen Fry serenade me by listening to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the rest of the 6 hour journey I either read or gazed out of the window, along one 5km stretch there was one or 2 churches every 100m, in 10 minutes we went past over 50 churches, somehow I don't think Christians are being persecuted here! When we stopped there was the usual jockeying from the hotel reps, one stated a good deal, $5 for a room, can't say fairer than that, especially when it is still 30 degrees centigrade late at night. In my room there are 9 beds, I have met 5 of the other occupants, a spaniard who hasn't said a word and 4 English guys. They're proper sound guys from Surrey and we all went out to grab some street food which was pretty ace.
